I had intended to make an interactive series of pages on Shawm making and I eventually will. This is a temporary series of pages which show the general methods and processes that I have used in Shaw making, the procedures can be applied to other woodwind construction.

The following photographs are in the order of construction starting from the cutting of the rough lumber. I try to carefully sellect a tree or log of the wood I want.  In this case it is Figured Soft Maple which I sellected fom a log in Central Oregon.
